Many professional athletes quibble over their performance ratings on sports video games, but rarely do those complaints lead to a change in the virtual representation of their athletic prowess.
But not all professional athletes are Mitch Wishnowsky. The San Francisco 49ers rookie punter kicked the ball off after the Niners scored a touchdown toward the end of the third quarter of the Niners’ Monday Night Football game against the Denver Broncos.
Broncos returner Devontae Jackson caught the ball in the end zone, ran it out and found an opening to maybe bust out a big run.
Wishnowsky quickly closed that hole, though, with a devastating hit on Jackson that got people talking.

In fact, the 49ers requested that the punter’s Madden ’20 tackle rating, which was a lowly 36, be raised based on the truck stick he put on Jackson.
“We’d like to request an update to @mitchwish’s tackle rating of 36, @EAMaddenNFL. #SFvsDEN,” read a tweet from the 49ers’ official Twitter account posted on Tuesday night.
Wishnowsky, who was drafted by the 49ers in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, retweeted his team’s request and added that “36 is a bit stiff.”

Then, on Tuesday morning, EA Sports announced the 49ers’ request was under review. And, two hours later, they announced that they’d boosted his ratings in the tackle and hit power categories.
As of press time, his ratings haven’t been updated on the Madden Player Ratings website, but the 49ers organization is stoked about EA Sports’ decision.
