Andre Iguodala says he hopes Klay Thompson will be back in February 2020: ‘He’s a fast healer’

Klay Thompson suffered a torn ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals, and teammate Andre Iguodala says he hopes the shooting guard can be back in February 2020.

“I’m confident in us, Klay will be back in February I hope,” Iguodala said Friday morning on ESPN’s First Take. “He’s a fast healer, but February I hope, and we’re going to have another run at it. It’s not over.”

February 2020 is only eight months removed from the date of Thompson’s injury, and recovery from a torn ACL usually takes nine to 12 months.

Iguodala’s comments are somewhat in line with a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that stated Thompson’s “rehab could take him into February or March” of the 2019-2020 season.

During his First Take appearance, Iguodala also got the chance to respond to host Max Kellerman’s blistering-hot “I would rather have Andre Igoudala take the final shot of a game instead of Steph Curry” take.

“He crazy,” Iguodala said of Kellerman while laughing. “Steph is the best shooter of all time off the dribble at his position, I’d say he’s the second-best point guard of all time. If you argue Isiah Thomas is better than him I won’t fight, but in my opinion, [he’s the] second-best point guard of all time behind Magic Johnson.”

Iguodala wasn’t the only guest on First Take Friday morning. Former Chicago Bulls big man Dennis Rodman also joined the set and did not appreciate questions about whether the 2018 Warriors would beat the 1996 Bulls.

“I don’t know who would guard Michael Jordan on the Warriors,” Rodman said. “Literally, who?”

Rodman also said he doesn’t think he’d have any issues going against Draymond Green.

“I got no problem handling that Green guy,” Rodman said. “He’d be eating out of my hands… Draymond, keep getting your teeth straight and listen to your momma, this is doctor D-Rods calling right now baby, you want a prescription? Come ask me.”
