Ankle sprain expected to knock top pick Nick Bosa out for 49ers preseason

The San Francisco 49ers will be without their top draft pick for the preseason due to an ankle sprain suffered in practice Wednesday.

On KNBR, General Manager John Lynch said of the 2nd overall pick, “We won’t see him in the preseason and we’ll go from there.”

Lynch said the injury was not a “full-blown” high-ankle sprain, but that the 49ers needed to be prudent with the rookie pass rusher.

As The Chronicle reports, this is the second significant injury for Bosa in just four months of practicing with the team. He suffered a hamstring injury during an offseason practice in May.
