RALEIGH, N.C. — Tuukka Rask stopped 24 shots for his seventh career playoff shutout as the Bruins beat Carolina 4-0 on Thursday to complete a four-game sweep of the Eastern Conference finals.
“Everyone in the room wanted to be at their best,” Boston forward Brad Marchand said, “and everyone was at their best tonight.”
Patrice Bergeron scored two goals, David Pastrnak had a goal and two assists and Marchand added an empty-netter as the Bruins won a seventh consecutive postseason game.
Curtis McElhinney made 19 saves for the Hurricanes, who were in the playoffs for the first time since 2009.
“It’s always tough to swallow when the season ends, just abruptly like that,” Carolina’s Justin Williams said. “It’s like you’re cut real quick. And you’ve got to go home.”
Boston will face the Sharks or Blues in the Stanley Cup Finals.
