Central Florida gets 10th win, routs Marshall in Gasparilla Bowl

Richie Grant and Tre’mon Morris-Brash had first-quarter defensive touchdowns, Dillon Gabriel led three third-quarter scoring drives and Central Florida beat Marshall 48-25 in the Gasparilla Bowl on Monday in Tampa, Fla.

Grant had a 39-yard interception return on Marshall’s third play from scrimmage 56 seconds into the game and Morris-Brash recovered a fumble and ran it 55 yards for a score that helped UCF go up 21-0 with seven minutes left in the first quarter.

Gabriel completed 14 of 24 passes for 260 yards as the Knights (10-3) reached 10 or more wins in a school-record third consecutive season. Marlon Williams caught seven passes for 132 yards and Greg McCrae had 80 rushing yards on 14 carries.

Isaiah Green went 9-for-23 for 173 yards with a TD and ran for a touchdown for Marshall (8-5).

Baseball: Free-agent pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu and the Toronto Blue Jays agreed to an $80 million, four-year contract, according to a person familiar with the negotiations.

The person spoke late Sunday night on condition of anonymity because the deal was pending a physical after Christmas.

Ryu, a 32-year-old left-hander from South Korea, was 14-5 with a major-league-best 2.32 ERA for the Dodgers last season.

• Also, the Houston Astros signed catcher Martin Maldonado to a two-year, $7 million contract; catcher Francisco Cervelli agreed to terms on a $2 million, one-year deal with the Miami Marlins; and second baseman Cesar Hernandez agreed to a one-year, $6.25 million contract with the Cleveland Indians, a source said.

Courts: Free-agent pitcher Rich Hill and his wife were arrested outside Saturday’s New England Patriots game after police said his wife attempted to enter the stadium with an oversized bag and he argued with officers. The two were charged with disorderly conduct. Caitlin Hill also was charged with trespassing and Rich Hill with resisting arrest, a felony. All charges were reduced to civil infractions and the two were fined a total of $1,000 in a court appearance.
