The figure skating world has a new star this weekend and she’s from the East Bay.
Alysa Liu, 13, won the U.S. National Seniors Championship, the youngest in history.
“It’s kind of weird for me because I see her here all the time, and she did on TV last night just what she always does,” said Scott Davis, the vice president of the St. Moritz Skating Club in Oakland. “She just gets out there and just gives her all every time.”
Now the youngest U.S. National Champion ever, Liu took the title from Tara Lipinski who was 14 when she won in 1997 and Scott Allen who was also 14 when he won in 1964.
