A pickup truck rear-ended a big rig Thursday morning on eastbound Interstate 205, leaving one person dead and a fuel spill on the roadway, authorities said.
The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. near the Interstate 580 split east of Livermore, said Officer Tyler Hahn, a California Highway Patrol spokesman. Officers are still investigating how the collision occurred.
“Unfortunately, the driver of that pickup truck was pronounced dead on scene,” Hahn said.
The two left lanes were blocked and officers are directing drivers on I-580 to the Patterson Pass/Mountain House Parkway exit as a detour.
Authorities did not provide an estimate for when all lanes will re-open.
