A fire in North Berkeley sent black smoke into the air Tuesday afternoon, as firefighters worked to contain a blaze in a residential neighborhood.
The 1800 block of Delaware near downtown Berkeley was closed to traffic just after noon, Berkeley police announced via an alert.
The fire is believed to have originated at a detached garage, according to news site Berkeleyside, and two people were said to have escaped the fire.
The blaze was under control as of 12:45 p.m.
