Fire in Oakland pumps out cloud of black smoke

A fire broke out in Oakland Monday morning, pumping out a towering column of black smoke viewable from around the Bay Area.

The Oakland Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at 2000 Solano Way near BART tracks at 8:28 a.m, according to the Oakland Fire Department. The fire quickly spread to a warehouse occupied by American Emperor at 1900 East 12th St. The business sells electrical equipment, lighting fixtures and HVAC systems.
