Four-car crash on I-680 slows morning commute in Dublin

A four-vehicle crash Monday morning shut down two lanes of southbound Interstate 680 in Dublin, authorities said.

A motorist reported that a big rig crashed into another vehicle around 5:19 a.m. just north of the Interstate 580 interchange, according to the California Highway Patrol. Investigators do not know what caused the crash at this time, or how the other two vehicles became involved in the wreck.

One person was taken to a nearby hospital with major injuries, said Officer Tyler Hahn, a CHP spokesman. Another person was transported due to complaints of pain.

CHP issued a traffic alert warning drivers to avoid the area and take alternate routes. All lanes have since reopened.
