With uncharacteristically hot temperatures scorching the Bay Area this week, you may be feeling a little sweaty — and therefore experiencing an urge to jump into a cool body of water. If so, you’re in luck: The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department has announced that today and Friday, you can swim at seven San Francisco pools for free.
Time is running out to make it one of these pools today (most close at 4 p.m.), except for Mission Pool, which will be open tonight from 6-7:30 p.m., and Sava Pool, which will be open from 6:30-8:30 p.m. However, Balboa Pool, Coffman Pool, Hamilton Pool, Martin Luther King Jr. Pools, Mission Pool, North Beach Pool and Sava Pool will all be open Friday for your free swimming whims.
Mid-day lap swims have been cancelled, and there will be no impact on lessons or rentals.
Here is Friday’s free pool schedule:
Balboa Pool: Noon to 4 p.m. (parent-tot swim time cancelled)
Coffman Pool: Noon to 3:30 p.m.
Hamilton Pool: Noon to 3:30 p.m.
Martin Luther King Jr. Pools: Noon to 4 p.m.
Mission Pool: Noon to 3 p.m.
North Beach Pool: Noon to 4 p.m.; 5:30-7 p.m. (warm pool only)
Sava Pool: Noon to 4 p.m; 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
