Golfer Michelle Wie and Warriors exec Jonnie West announce engagement

Golfer Michelle Wie and Warriors director of basketball operations Jonnie West announced their engagement over the weekend.

West, who is the son of Lakers legend Jerry, popped the question on the Lyon Street Steps in San Francisco. The pair went public with their relationship in January.

Wie turned pro as a 15-year-old and later attended Stanford University, although she was not eligible for the golf team there because of her professional status. She graduated Stanford in 2012.

After attending West Virginia, West was hired as the director of basketball operations and advance scout for the Warriors‘ G-League affiliate in Santa Cruz. In 2013, he was promoted to associate general manager before becoming the Warriors’ director of player programs in 2015.

In 2017, he was promoted to director of basketball operations.

Wie is currently launching her comeback. In 2017, she was in a car accident that injured her wrist. She underwent surgery and has only recently returned to competition.
