Stephen Curry has every right to entertain any NBA star who passes through town. But there’s no way the Warriors star — and head of the Golden State juggernaut — can do so without raising a few eyebrows.
Video of Curry accompanying Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid into dinner at San Francisco’s International Smoke was posted on the Instagram stories of Bay Area native Kimberly Torres Wednesday evening. It was quickly picked up by Warriors Instagram accounts, and it’s already sent ripples through the NBA fandom.
Curry and Embiid, who was in town for the Sixers’ game against the Warriors Thursday, can be seen greeting staff at International Smoke, a restaurant co-founded by Ayesha Curry. Ayesha was also at the restaurant Wednesday night; she posted video on Instagram of herself at the Financial District spot.
“Better launch an investigation,” joked one user on the NBA subreddit.
“COLLUSION,” added another.
Of course, Curry and Embiid are already teammates in one sense. They’re both signed to Under Armour.
Embiid signed a five-year, $148 million contract extension with the 76ers in 2017, in case Warriors fans were curious.
The Warriors and Sixers tip off at 7:30 Thursday night at Oracle Arena. After a long road stretch, the Warriors are home for the next week.
