Former Warriors player JaVale McGee will have to wait a bit longer to receive his 2018 championship ring: the Lakers center is missing Tuesday’s game at Oracle Arena due to pneumonia.
The Warriors had planned to give McGee his ring in a Christmas Day ceremony, in what was to be McGee’s first game against his former team.
Instead, McGee is out for his fifth straight game due to pneumonia, after spending three days in the hospital to recover from his illness. McGee was cleared to play with the Lakers Sunday against the Grizzlies but was kept out of the game and wound up staying home as the team traveled to Oakland.
It’s unclear when McGee will eventually get his ring, but he’ll have another chance when the Warriors face the Lakers on Jan. 21 in Los Angeles.
Tipoff for the Christmas showdown between the Warriors and Lakers is at 5 p.m.
