Kevin Durant has not spoken publicly since suffering a calf strain in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semifinals last week, but he still has his favorite mode of communication available to him: Instagram comments.
Earlier this week, Portland Trail Blazers guard Seth Curry said he doesn’t believe the Warriors are better without Durant, but he does believe they are harder to defend.
“I think they are harder to guard [without him],” Curry said. “They move around faster when he’s not out there. They’re definitely not a better team, but they’re harder to guard. Obviously, they play a different style of basketball when Steph and Klay are the focal points offensively, and we haven’t played that team in a while.”
After Portland’s 114-111 Game 2 loss, a Warriors fan account on Instagram posted a picture with Curry’s comments, leading Durant — who’s never been shy about using Instagram to defend himself — to express his disagreement with a simple two-word comment.
“Hell no,” he wrote.
After Game 2, Draymond Green said it’s “idiotic” to believe the Warriors are a better team without Durant.
“That’s idiotic,” Green said. “It’s very idiotic. I don’t think there’s one person in this locker room, one person in this organization that thinks that. And I know for damn sure that any idiot that does possibly [say] it don’t believe it.”
Durant will not play in Games 3 and 4 in Portland, and it is unclear when he will be able to return to the court.
Game 3 begins Saturday night at 6 p.m.
