Kevin Durant has yet to make a formal farewell to the Golden State Warriors fanbase, but he posted a goodbye of sorts on his Instagram the day after announcing he was signing with the Brooklyn Nets.
“I wandered everywhere, through cities and countries wide. And everywhere I went, the universe was on my side,” the caption reads.
In the comments was a supportive response from Warriors superfan and rapper E-40.
“Respect!” he wrote. “We appreciate you it was great witnessing greatness on our home court.”
Sunday night was full of surprises for fans of the NBA. At 3 p.m., Durant announced he would be signing a four-year deal with the Nets; according to reports, he’ll be joined shortly by Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan.
A few hours later, the Warriors reportedly acquired All-Star guard D’Angelo Russell in a sign-and-trade deal with Brooklyn — and sent veteran Andre Iguodala packing to Memphis in exchange for a first-round draft pick.
Klay Thompson, the Warriors’ other big 2019 free agent, is reportedly going to sign a five-year, $190 million deal to stay with the team.
