When Klay Thompson signed his new contract with the Golden State Warriors, he made sure he had his best friend at his side.
His best friend of course being his beloved pet bulldog, Rocco.
In a photo provided by the Warriors, Thompson and Rocco can be seen sitting next to one another while Thompson signed a deal that would keep him in the Bay Area through 2024. The shooting guard can also be seen wearing a brace on his left knee as a result of the torn ACL he suffered in Game 6 of the NBA Finals.
Thompson underwent surgery on July 2, and The Chronicle’s Connor Letourneau reported that the team expects him to return in five to seven months. He agreed to a five-year, $190 million contract with the Warriors in the early stages of free agency.
When Thompson signed his last contract with the Warriors in 2014, he made sure Rocco was the “first to know.”
“He didn’t know what it meant,” Thompson told The Chronicle’s Ann Killion. “That’s why I love him, though. He didn’t care the day before I signed the contract or the day of. He just loved me for me.”
Thompson has famously been best friends with his pet bulldog ever since he adopted Rocco as an eight-week-old puppy back in 2011.
In March, Thompson and Rocco starred in an amusing BMW commercial where the duo drove around Alameda looking for a “perfect” dog park for Rocco.
