Lake Merritt BART station closed due to medical emergency, BART lines seeing delays

BART lines are seeing delays Wednesday afternoon after a person was apparently hit by a train, forcing a closure of the Lake Merritt station as medical responders work on the scene, according to BART.

The transit agency alerted riders to the closure via social media about 5:36 p.m., stating there are delays in the Dublin/Pleasanton, Warm Springs, Richmond and Daly City directions due to the medical emergency. There is also no direct service to Warm Springs from Richmond, BART stated in an update.

AC Transit will apparently be available for riders, according to a tweet.

There is no estimated time of reopening for the station currently being shared with riders, and trains are not being allowed to run through the station as trains are being forced to turn back currently.

This story is developing and we will update as more information becomes available.
