Matt Duchene scores twice in Ottawa’s win

Ottawa’s Matt Duchene had two goals and an assist in his first game against his former club, and the host Senators beat the Colorado Avalanche 5-2 on Wednesday night.

Duchene had missed the previous three games due to the birth of his first son.

Oilers 3, Canucks 2: Alex Chiasson scored the decisive goal in the fifth round of a shootout for visiting Edmonton.

Sabres 4, Flames 3: Jack Eichel scored at 1:10 of overtime to give Buffalo a road victory. Seconds after putting a backhand off the post, Eichel rifled a low shot past goalie Dave Rittich.

Flyers 4, Bruins 3: Sean Couturier had a hat trick, Carter Hart stopped 39 shots and Philadelphia won at home.

Briefly: Anaheim acquired defenseman Michael Del Zotto from the Vancouver for defenseman Luke Schenn and a 2019 seventh-round draft pick. … Montreal forward Paul Byron was suspended for three games without pay for charging Florida defenseman MacKenzie Weegar during a game Tuesday.
