The Warriors are playing their last game in Oakland tonight, but they’re going out in the most Oakland way possible.
A quadruple-dose of beloved Oakland hip-hop talent will be performing at halftime of Game 6 of the NBA Finals on Thursday at Oracle Arena: Mistah F.A.B., Too $hort, E-40 and G-Eazy.
“What would be a greater way to go out than have some artists that are from the area that represent the soil to perform in front of the people?” Mistah F.A.B. told KPIX. “Years later, we can go back and say, man, we performed the last performance at the Oakland Warriors’ game. I hope it’s enough to fuel the fire for us to go out and get a victory.”
The Warriors need whatever inspiration they can get – again without injured star Kevin Durant, they have to force a Game 7 against the Toronto Raptors or be eliminated and prepare for next year at their new home, Chase Center in San Francisco.
The rappers have been promoting the show on their respective social media channels. Too $hort shared a courtside photo of the rappers on Twitter, promising they’ll be “Holdin it down at halftime.”
Fans wouldn’t be enjoying this last stand at Oracle without a stirring comeback victory by the Warriors in Game 5 in Toronto. Mistah F.A.B. told The Undefeated he paid $20,000 on a ticket close to courtside for that game, but that he won $10,000 back with a bet on the Warriors.
