Mountain lion discovered near Santa Rosa Macy’s store is sedated

Who says mountain lions don’t go shopping?

A mountain lion was discovered in a brick planter box near the Macy’s store at the Santa Rosa Plaza in downtown Santa Rosa Monday morning.

At 9:44 a.m., Santa Rosa Police announced wildlife officers were sedating the animal.

“Avoid the area of B Street between 4th and 7th Streets,” police warned.

By 10 a.m., the procedure was done and police announced it was safe to go downtown.

Battalion Chief Jason Jenkins told the Press Democrat the animal will be relocated.
