Edmonton’s Cam Talbot made 39 saves for his first shutout this season and the Oilers earned their second victory in nine games by beating the skidding Ducks 4-0 in Anaheim on Sunday night.
It was a strong bounce-back win for the Oilers, who lost 4-0 to Los Angeles on Saturday. They scored three goals in the first period for the second time this season and controlled action on both ends of the ice despite being outshot 39-24.
Anaheim has lost eight straight after winning four in a row and nine of 10.
Blackhawks 5, Penguins 3: Dylan Strome broke a tie 1:48 into the third period and visiting Chicago snapped Pittsburgh’s eight-game winning streak. Strome scored seconds after a power-play expired, beating fallen goalie Casey DeSmith off a pass from Patrick Kane.
Golden Knights 3, Devils 2: Malcolm Subban made 36 saves and host Vegas overcame a 2-0 deficit to improve to 17-3-3 since Nov. 21.
Hurricanes 5, Senators 4: Justin Williams broke a 4-4 tie with a power-play goal at 7:34 of the third as visiting Carolina won its fourth in a row.
Coyotes 5, Rangers 0: Conor Garland scored two goals and Darcy Kuemper made 23 saves for his first shutout of the season for host Arizona.
Jets 5, Stars 1: Josh Morrissey had a goal and an assist and Connor Hellebuyck made 26 saves as host Winnipeg rebounded from a 4-0 loss to Pittsburgh on Friday night.
Capitals 3, Red Wings 2: Michal Kempny scored the tie-breaking goal with and 3:52 remaining as visiting Washington snapped a three-game losing streak.
Briefly: Edmonton activated defenseman Kris Russell, who had been on injured reserve since Dec. 11 because of a groin injury. … Ottawa activated center Jean-Gabriel Pageau, who had been out since rupturing an Achilles tendon before the season.
