Pitt head coach Jeff Capel to face former team, Duke

Jeff Capel

The Pittsburgh head coach, a former Duke guard and assistant coach, will get a chance to see how far the Panthers (12-6, 2-3 ACC) have come when they host Mike Krzyzewski and the second-ranked Blue Devils (15-2, 4-1) on Tuesday night. “It will probably be weird,” Capel said. Capel has reinvigorated the Panthers. “He’s done a terrific job,” Krzyzewski said. “He selected a great staff and then he embraced Pittsburgh. Not just the school, but the city.” Said Capel of Krzyzewski: “There’s no better fighter than him and what he’s instilled in the program, and I’ve tried to instill that in our program.”

Andy Buh

Rutgers has named the former Cal defensive coordinator and Stanford co-defensive coordinator its defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. Buh spent the past three seasons as Maryland’s defensive coordinator. Rutgers went 1-11 in 2018 and the defense was among the worst in the country. Rutgers head coach Chris Ash and Buh were on the same staff at Wisconsin in 2012, when Buh coached linebackers under a defensive group led by Ash. Buh spent three seasons (2007-09), two as the co-defensive coordinator, with the Cardinal. He was with the Bears in 2013.
