Police shoot and kill dog that seriously injured man, 40, in Daly City

Police say they were forced to shoot a dog attacking a 40-year-old man in Daly City on Monday morning.

Daly City police officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Schwerin Street at 7 a.m.

Fearing for the safety of the adult who was under attack by the dog in the backyard of a home, “officers fired their duty weapons to stop the threat,” said Sergeant Sean Begley.

The man was in critical condition, but stable, Begley said. He was transported to a nearby hospital.

The dog’s breed is unknown. The incident is under investigation and police are interviewing the owner of the dog involved.
