WHAT WE KNOW: Multiple victims in shooting at Gilroy Garlic Festival
“Simply horrific. I’m grateful to the first responders who are on the scene in Gilroy, and my thoughts are with that community tonight,” tweeted Senator Kamala Harris (D-Calif.). “Our country has a gun violence epidemic that we cannot tolerate.”
According to Vox’s mass shootings since Sandy Hook database, America started July 28, 2019 with 256 mass shootings this year so far. In those 256 shootings, 250 were killed and 998 wounded. Vox defines a “mass shooting” as an incident in which four or more people, not including the shooter, are wounded or killed at the same general time or location.
It has not yet been updated to include the Gilroy shooting.
