Report: DeMarcus Cousins being investigated by police for allegedly threatening ex-girlfriend

Former Warrior and current Lakers center DeMarcus Cousins is under investigation by police in Mobile, Ala. for allegedly threatening to kill an ex-girlfriend, TMZ reported Tuesday.

In a recording released by TMZ, a man tells a woman that he will “put a bullet through (her) f—ing head” after she tells the man that their son cannot attend his upcoming wedding. Cousins’ ex-girlfriend told TMZ that the man on the recording is Cousins.

Cousins married Morgan Lang in Atlanta over the weekend.

The Lakers, in a statement given to ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk, acknowledged the allegations.

“We are aware of the allegation involving DeMarcus Cousins and, of course, take this claim seriously,” the Lakers wrote. “We are in the process of gathering information and will reserve further comment at this time.”

USA Today confirmed the police investigation, reporting that Cousins is under investigation for “misdemeanor harassing communications of the third degree.” TMZ says Cousins’ ex-girlfriend is pursuing a restraining order against him.
