Ryan O’Hearn led off the 10th inning with his second homer of the game, sending the Kansas City Royals to a wild 9-8 win over the host Cleveland Indians on Sunday.
The Royals took an 8-4 lead by putting up five runs in the eighth, triggered by shortstop Francisco Lindor’s error and highlighted by Jorge Soler’s two-run, 437-foot homer.
The Indians fought back and tied it in the ninth against Ian Kennedy.
Lindor homered with one out before Kennedy walked Carlos Santana with two outs and gave up a single to Yasiel Puig.
Kennedy’s wild pitch moved the runners up and Franmil Reyes, whose homer leading off the eighth cut Cleveland’s deficit to 8-4, brought them home with a 423-foot shot to left.
“It was crazy,” Reyes said. “Honestly, it was one of the best moments in my life, not my career. It was great.”
But in the 10th, Nick Goody got too much of the plate with a four-seam fastball and O’Hearn drove it over the right-field wall as the Royals salvaged a back-and-forth series finale to snap a four-game losing streak.
White Sox 2, Rangers 0: Reynaldo Lopez pitched five no-hit, scoreless innings for host Chicago before leaving with dehydration and flu-like symptoms. Four White Sox relievers followed as Texas was held to one hit, Shin-Soo Choo’s sixth-inning single off Aaron Bummer.

Braves 2, Mets 1: Josh Donaldson’s two homers tied Hank Aaron’s 1962 club mark for homers in a season against the Mets (nine) as visiting Atlanta won its eighth in a row.

Pirates 9, Reds 8: Trevor Bauer allowed eight runs in three innings as host Pittsburgh swept the series.
