Some of the biggest events in San Francisco may be able to sell cannabis through a city permit, just in time for the annual 4/20 event, the San Francisco Examiner reported Tuesday.
Assembly bill 2020 allows cities in the state to issue cannabis permits for temporary events with a state license and local license.
Initially, permits would go to event that have been held on a regular basis, received city permits, and had significant amounts of unregulated cannabis, so 4/20 at Hippie Hill falls in this category.
It will be issued by the Office of Cannabis and require city agency approval for the area where it’s taking place, such as parks and recreations for example.
Permits could range from $500 for 500 people attending, to as much as $3,000 for events of more than 2,500 people
