SJSU in Golf Spotlight as Host of Western Intercollegiate

The athletics department at San Jose State is trying to raise its profile, and hosting a prestigious golf tournament is the latest in its effort to scale nationally and even globally.

“There’s a lot of buzz going on at San Jose State,” said Marie Tuite, SJSU’s athletics director. “I’m pretty excited to sort of be a part of it.”

The buzz Tuite referred is related to the improvements in campus facilities. In the past two years, the school has opened new softball, soccer, tennis and golf complexes for its student-athletes.

Now it is bringing in the Western Intercollegiate Golf Tournament April 15-17.
