The San Francisco 49ers drafted Ohio State pass rusher Nick Bosa with the second overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft, but a number of left-leaning 49ers fans were not happy.
In the months leading up to the draft, Bosa deleted a number of tweets in which he called Colin Kaepernick a “clown,” Beyonce’s music “complete trash,” and Black Panther the “worst Marvel movie.”
Bosa is a supporter of President Donald Trump, and once said in an interview he is a “big fan” of then-candidate Trump.
“Yes, big fan,” Bosa said at the time. “He brings a charisma that no other candidate has [had] in my lifetime.”
The Ohio State product continued his support of the president through various likes and retweets on Twitter.

After Bosa was officially drafted by the 49ers Thursday night, many liberal 49ers fans lashed out.
Jemele Hill, a writer for The Atlantic who left ESPN after being suspended for calling Trump a “white supremacist,” tweeted a photo of an angry Cleveland Cavaliers fan and wrote, “So my 49ers took Nick Bosa …”
Other 49ers fans were also irked.
“@49ers drafted racist and homophobic [Nick Bosa],” one fan tweeted. “I stuck by the team through good and bad. I’m not sure I can root for this team now. Maybe I should switch to the @RamsNFL or @Chargers now?”
Conservative commentator Tomi Lahren, whose tweets were often liked or retweeted by Bosa, congratulated the pass rusher on getting drafted second overall.
“Glad to see @49ers will have a true America-loving star in [Nick Bosa] who can not only play extremely well, but will also STAND for his country and all those who have fought to protect and defend it!” she tweeted.
On Thursday night, Bosa said he has learned from his controversial social media posts.
“I love the Bay Area and I’m excited to play there,” he said. “I was a little insensitive in some of the things I said. I’ve learned a lot in the past few months.”
Some people questioned whether or not Bosa would be able to get along with African American teammates due to his past tweets, but that didn’t seem to be an issue Thursday night when he was welcomed by many of his 49ers teammates.
“@nbsmallerbear let’s get after it!!! Excited to have you join the D line!!” Solomon Thomas tweeted.
“Added another dawg to the DLine!” tweeted DeForest Buckner. “Let’s gooooooo! #GoNiners.”
