Tyler Seguin scored at 3:37 of overtime to give the host Stars a 2-1 victory over the Washington Capitals on Friday, Dallas’ fourth win in its past five games. The Stars survived regulation against the defending Stanley Cup champions despite just two shots in the third period.
Seguin scored for the second straight game, first on a rebound off an Alexander Radulov shot during a first-period power play, then in overtime from beside the net. Seguin has 15 goals this season, and it was the fourth time this year Seguin has scored in back-to-back games.
Devils 3, Coyotes 2: Keith Kinkaid stopped 21 shots and had two saves in a shootout, lifting New Jersey to a road win over Arizona. Kinkaid, who entered after MacKenzie Blackwood suffered a lower-body injury in the first period, stopped Alex Galchenyuk and Nick Cousins in the shootout.
Red Wings 4, Predators 3: Dylan Larkin scored at 4:35 of overtime as host Detroit snapped a six-game losing streak. Andreas Athanasiou, Thomas Vanek and Tyler Bertuzzi also scored for the Red Wings.
Penguins 4, Jets 0: Olli Maatta and Matt Cullen scored 11 seconds apart in the first period, Matt Murray stopped 33 shots and host Pittsburgh earned its eighth straight win.
Hurricanes 4, Blue Jackets 2: Greg McKegg had a goal and an assist in his Carolina debut, and the Hurricanes claimed a home win against Columbus. It was the first multi-point game of McKegg’s six-year career.
Avalanche 6, Rangers 1: Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen scored power-play goals early in the first period to help host Colorado end a six-game slide.
Golden Knights 3, Ducks 2: Max Pacioretty scored in his return to the Vegas lineup and the Golden Knights edged Anaheim to extend their winning streak to five games.
Briefly: Canucks center Elias Pettersson, who leads NHL rookies in goals (22), assists (20) and points (42), won’t play against the Maple Leafs on Saturday after injuring his right knee during a game against the Canadiens on Thursday, the Vancouver Province reported. … The Hurricanes placed center Jordan Staal on injured reserve because of an upper-body injury.
