Following the hullabaloo after jokingly saying the moon landing was faked, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is getting the last laugh.
Generally a man of few words, Curry responded to the backlash with customized Under Armour Curry 6 sneakers that he’s wearing in Thursday night’s game against the Houston Rockets. Dubbed the “Moon Landing” Curry 6, the shoes are printed with an image of the moon’s cratered surface and details referencing NASA.
They will be auctioned next week & will benefit STEM Education programs for Bay Area children
After the game, Curry will sign the shoes and auction them on eBay, with proceeds benefiting Bay Area STEM — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — education programs, according to media reports. Nicely played, Curry.
The basketball golden child practically exploded the internet after saying the moon landing never happened during a podcast interview. Curry later backpedaled on his comments, saying it was all a joke. In a conversation with astronaut Scott Kelly on Instagram Live, Curry said he learned from the experience that impressionable kids are impacted by his statements — even those leaning toward conspiracy theory.
NASA even invited Curry to visit their headquarters, an invitation he plans to accept.
The Moon Landing Curry 6 auction will run Jan. 6 to Jan. 13 on eBay.
