Stephen Curry is throwing a huge party to show his appreciation for the city of Oakland — and it’s free for all Warriors fans who snag a ticket.
The celebration will be hosted at the Fox Theater on Jan. 4 and is set to feature Curry and a slate of local musicians. Free tickets are available at Curry’s pop-up store at 472 9th Street in downtown Oakland.
“Obviously this is our last year playing in Oakland as the Warriors organization,” Curry said in a video announcement on his Instagram. “And it’s a great opportunity for me to be able to share a little of my 10-year journey playing in front of Oakland.”
Bay Area performers P-Lo, E-40, Mistah FAB and Saweetie are all tagged in Curry’s post, perhaps indicating they’re among the special guests.
The event also functions as something of a launch party for his latest sneaker, the Curry 6. The shoe’s bright green, orange and yellow color scheme was inspired by the Fox Theater marquee. The Curry 6 hits stores on Friday.
“It’s going to be an amazing celebration of the city of Oakland,” Curry said.
