Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry says he regrets bringing his daughter Riley to the now-infamous press conference in 2015 where she went viral for singing a line from Big Sean’s “Blessings.”
While speaking to The Undefeated, Curry said he wants his kids to live as normally as possible, and felt somewhat guilty for exposing her to the spotlight that early.
“One thing I do technically regret in terms of how fast this all came is when I brought Riley on the podium,” he said. “I’ve always wanted to … share what I get to do, and all the experiences I have, with my family. I didn’t know how much that would blow up and how much of a splash she [would make] on the scene.”
Curry added that he wants Riley to experience her own successes in life, and not get “too bigheaded.”
“If I could take that one back, I probably would, just because my goal is just to … give my kids the best chance at success and at seeing the world in the proper way,” he said. “Trying to give our kids the best chance to be successful and have a normal life in terms of treating people the right way, having respect, not getting too bigheaded and feeling like everything’s about them.”
During the press conference in question, Riley Curry jumped in front of the microphone, and sang Drake’s line from the chorus of Big Sean’s “Blessings.”
“Way up, I feel blessed,” she said as reporters in the room laughed.
The moment launched Riley Curry to social media stardom, and she has been a darling of the Warriors fandom ever since.
Curry discussed his days at Davidson, his feud with President Donald Trump and more during his interview with The Undefeated.
