Could a return to the Golden State Warriors be in the cards for Monta Ellis?
According to Yahoo Sports’ Chris Haynes, the Warriors are one of 12 teams attending a Monday night workout featuring Ellis and Amar’e Stoudemire in Las Vegas.
The workout was first reported by ESPN’s Jordan Schultz on Friday.
The 33-year-old Ellis was with the Warriors from 2005-2012, and last played for the Indiana Pacers during the 2016-2017 season. The Pacers waived him in July 2017 and he has not played in an NBA game since.
Haynes reported that the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Milwaukee Bucks, Detroit Pistons and Washington Wizards will also be in attendance.
“Both players are healthy and hoping to sign with a contending team,” ESPN reported last week.
After being traded from the Warriors to the Milwaukee Bucks in March 2012, Ellis spent a year and a half in Milwaukee, two years in Dallas and two more in Indiana.
Ellis remained an NBA starter until his final year in Indiana, starting only 33 of the 74 games he played in that season.
During his last season in the NBA, he averaged 8.5 points and 27 minutes per game, and shot 44 percent from the field and 32 percent from three-point range.
Stoudemire, 36, has been playing for Hapoel Jerusalem of the Israeli Basketball Premier League since leaving the NBA in 2016. He last played for the Miami Heat.
