Things that weren't invented in San Francisco, though people think they were

Cioppino. Nude marathons. The West Coast Offense. San Francisco’s creativity has inspired all kinds of inventions since it was born. But we’re not here to talk about that.

Instead, we looked back at some of the many things believed to have come from San Francisco but were really invented somewhere else. In some cases we may have perfected the idea – the cable car, for example. Other examples were conceived in other cities at around the same time, so San Francisco can’t take sole credit.
