Kevin Durant won’t be on the court as the Warriors end their run at Oracle Arena Thursday night, but the team is making it very clear that nobody has forgotten about him.
The reigning NBA Finals MVP will be out of the lineup after revealing Wednesday that he underwent surgery for a ruptured Achilles tendon after a brief return from injury in Game 5.
Fans filling the arena to capacity one last time won’t get to see Durant on the floor, but they will get one last giveaway featuring a nod to both Durant and the city that has hosted the team for the last 48 seasons.
According to multiple media outlets, all fans at the 6 p.m. game Thursday will get the rally towel seen here:

For those not fully initiated to #DubNation, the highlighted KD is reference to Durant, who often goes by just his initials. The design effectively reads both “For KD” and “For Oakland.”
The silkscreen comes from the local apparel maker Oaklandish, which sells shirts and other gear conveying Oakland pride, including the “For KD” design in t-shirt form.
The 2019-2020 Warriors will move to the new Chase Center in San Francisco, and it’s not yet clear if Durant will join them. The forward and former MVP had projected as the top prize in free agency prior to his injury. Now Sports Illustrated is reporting that he’ll likely miss a full season while recovering.
