If you’re a fan of basketball, vintage video games, and making fun of former Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant, today is your day.
That’s because someone created a version of the classic video game Snake that’s centered around the NBA career of Durant, who was nicknamed Snake after he left the Oklahoma City Thunder to join the Warriors in the summer of 2016.
The game, called Easy Money Snake, opens with a menu that allows you to choose between a few different game modes, one of which is a Warriors mode. The game starts with a cut out of Durant’s mug as the head of the snake and you have to eat different images of players, trophies or phrases that have been important to Durant’s career.
For example, you can “eat” the heads all of the other players who are part of the Hamptons Five – Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala – in order to grow the snake. You can also “eat” a block of text that says “My Next Chapter,” a send-up to his Player’s Tribune article announcing that he was signing with the Warriors.
Of course, eating the MVP trophy prompts a message to drop down from the top of the game board that says “Mom…you’re the real MVP.”
Whenever you lose the game, the person who designed it encourages players to donate to Kevin’s Foundation, with the message, “Jokes aside, if you enjoyed this consider donating to Kevin’s Foundation – he’s doing awesome work for youth sports and education.”
If you have some time, give the game a try, but careful, you’ll likely get sucked in.
