Tottenham, Liverpool reach Champions League semifinals

Tottenham advanced to the Champions League semifinals over Manchester City on away goals following a 4-3 loss Wednesday that left the teams tied 4-4 on aggregate.

Manchester City thought it had advanced on Raheem Sterling’s goal in the third minute of stoppage time, but the goal was overturned when video review showed City was offside.

• Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino scored, and Liverpool beat Porto 4-1 to advance to the semifinals.

• In MLS play, Hwang In-beom scored in the 27th minute as host Vancouver beat the LA Football Club 1-0.

Golf: In Kapolei, Hawaii, Nelly Korda had nine birdies for a 9-under-par 63 to lead the LPGA Tour’s Lotte Championship by one shot over Eun-Hee Ji after one round. Fifteen more players were within four shots of the lead.

• Stanford’s men’s team surged into the lead on the final day and won the 73rd Western Intercollegiate at Pasatiempo in Santa Cruz. Cal finished second and San Jose State was third. Stanford’s Isaiah Salinda beat San Jose State’s Sean Yu on the fifth playoff hole for the title after they tied for individual honors 8-under 202.

• Stanford finished fourth and Cal took ninth in the Pac-12 women’s championship in Palos Verdes Estates (Los Angeles County). Cardinal junior Albane Valenzuela tied for the individual title but lost to ASU’s Olivia Mehaffey in a playoff.

Tennis: Rafael Nadal made a successful debut to his clay court season in the second round of the Monte Carlo Masters with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Roberto Bautista Agut.

College basketball: Gonzaga forward Brandon Clarke, who led the nation in blocked shots this season, plans to skip his senior year and enter the NBA draft. He began his college career at San Jose State.
