Twins designated hitter Nelson Cruz, who has hit a majors-leading 16 home runs since the All-Star break, was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday because of a ruptured tendon in his left wrist.
Cruz was injured on a swing Thursday during a loss to Cleveland, and tests Friday revealed a rupture of the extensor carpi ulnaris tendon.
Manager Rocco Baldelli said the team has heard that the injury is one that is possible to play through.
“The way it feels today is really good. It’s a miracle that it feels like that,” Cruz told MLB.com. “I don’t have any pain, so maybe that’s what I needed. Just tear that tendon, and we’re good.”
