Authorities on Wednesday identified a couple killed in an early-morning fire on Christmas Eve in San Francisco.
Michael and Connie Hooker, 83 and 69, respectively, were in their Presidio Heights home at 3838 Clay St. when a fire broke out shortly before 1 a.m. on Dec. 24, officials said.
Firefighters rescued Michael Hooker from the blaze but paramedics were unsuccessful in reviving him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His wife, Connie, was transported to St. Francis Memorial Hospital in critical condition. She died on Christmas, the medical examiner’s office said.
A firefighter was injured during the rescue while trying to enter the home. He was released from a local burn center Monday morning and will make a full recovery, Fire Department officials said.
