A Brazilian police document says an unidentified woman has accused soccer star Neymar of raping her in Paris last month. After the revelation, the player used Instagram to publish a 7-minute video that includes WhatsApp messages he says he exchanged with the accuser in a friendly way days later.
Neymar calls the incident “a setup” and insists it is an attempt to extort him.
According to the police report, obtained by the Associated Press and New York Times on Saturday, the woman said Neymar paid for her to fly from Brazil to Paris, then attacked her in a hotel in Paris on the evening of May 15.
The woman returned to Brazil two days later. She filed the complaint in São Paulo, where she lives. She did not register the accusation in France, she said, because she was too emotionally shaken to do so in a foreign country.
