After her arrest, police say NorCal woman bragged about cameo in Netflix show ‘Jailbirds’

GRASS VALLEY, Calif. (KCRA) — A Nevada County woman who was featured on the Netflix show “Jailbirds” has run into more trouble with the law, Grass Valley police said.

Rachel Medlin, 23, was arrested Friday on heroin and paraphernalia possession charges as well as outstanding arrest warrants, according to the Grass Valley Police Department. She was on probation at the time of her arrest.

Medlin was nabbed after someone called police about suspected drug dealing between people in two cars in the parking lot of a closed business, police said.

“On the way to jail, Medlin was proud to tell officers of her brief cameo on the hit show, identifying the specific episode and the time stamp of her appearance,” Grass Valley police said in a statement.

“Hopefully she turns her back on that life soon. At 23, she has every capability of finding things to really be proud of,” the statement went on to say.

ALSOPolice say a ‘Jailbirds’ star was using someone’s ID. Then, she was recognized by a fan of the show.

“Jailbirds” premiered in May. The show features inmates at the Sacramento County Jail.
