A’s acquire starting pitcher Tanner Roark from Reds

The Oakland Athletics have acquired starting pitcher Tanner Roark from the Cincinnati Reds, according to multiple reports.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal first reported the news 90 minutes before the MLB trade deadline at 1 p.m. PDT, and ESPN’s Jeff Passan and MLB Network’s Jon Morosi confirmed the report. The A’s sent minor league prospect outfield Jameson Hannah back to the Reds to complete the deal.

Roark has a 4.24 ERA this season and is 6-7 in his 21 starts. He had previously spent six seasons with the Washington Nationals.

The righty is set to be a free agent at the end of the season, and will join Mike Fiers, Brett Anderson and others in the A’s rotation as they hope to hang on to an AL Wild Card spot.

This story is developing and will be updated as more information is made available.
