Dallas’ Anton Khudobin stops 49 shots in win over Nashville

Dallas’ Anton Khudobin made a career-high 49 saves to lead the Stars to a 2-0 victory over the Predators in Nashville on Thursday night.

Khudobin posted his first shutout of the season and seventh of his 165-game career. His best save came with six minutes left when he denied Ryan Johansen’s slap shot from the right side.

“It’s just a number,” Khudobin said of his save total. “I’m more happy with the win.”

Blackhawks 5, Wild 2: Patrick Kane had his fifth career hat trick, Brandon Saad added two goals and Collin Delia made 46 saves as host Chicago won for the fourth time in five games. Minnesota has lost five in a row.

Flames 4, Jets 1: Johnny Gaudreau had his fourth career hat trick and David Rittich stopped 35 shots as visiting Calgary ended its three-game losing streak. Winnipeg had won seven of its previous eight games.

Devils 5, Bruins 2: Mackenzie Blackwood stopped 40 shots for his first NHL win as New Jersey got its first victory in Boston in five years.

Lightning 6, Flyers 5: Alex Killorn scored 18 seconds into overtime and host Tampa Bay, despite wasting a three-goal third-period lead, improved to 12-0-1 in its past 13 games.

Blue Jackets 4, Rangers 3: Pierre-Luc Dubois scored 31 seconds into overtime and visiting Columbus won its fifth in a row.

Penguins 5, Red Wings 2: Phil Kessel scored two power-play goals and Derick Brassard added two even-strength goals as host Pittsburgh won its fourth straight game.

Golden Knights 2, Avalanche 1: Brandon Pirri snapped a tie midway through the third as host Vegas dealt Colorado its third consecutive loss.

Capitals 3, Hurricanes 1: Braden Holtby stopped 28 shots as host Washington won for the 15th time in 18 games. Capitals defenseman Matt Niskanen left the game after tumbling face first into the boards.

Canucks 4, Oilers 2: Tyler Motte, Brock Boeser, Elias Pettersson and Antoine Roussel scored first-period goals for visiting Vancouver.

Blues 4, Sabres 1: Robert Thomas had a goal and an assist to pace host St. Louis.

Briefly: Minnesota defenseman Matt Dumba had surgery to repair a ruptured right pectoralis muscle and is expected to be sidelined for at least three months, NHL.com reported. … Boston activated defenseman Zdeno Chara, who had been out since Nov. 14 because of a knee injury. … Nashville activated defenseman P.K.
