A search continued Sunday for a missing boater in North Lake Tahoe.
Deputies and the U.S. Coast Guard went to the area of Dollar Point Pier on Saturday night after authorities got a 911 call about a person in distress.
People aboard a boat with 13 passengers told deputies they had been towing three people on an inner tube when two riders fell in the water and became distressed, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.
The boat’s operator — identified as 27-year-old Sayen Sengupta, 27, of Boston — dove into the water to help the riders. He was last seen swimming toward the stranded pair when he went underwater and did not resurface.
The two people who fell out of the inner tube are OK, the sheriff’s office said.
Multiple agencies were assisting in the Sunday search.
The water depth in the search area is an estimated 600 to 800 feet.
