Giants fans’ swan float stocked with booze goes on short swim

The Giants may have lost to the Cubs last night, but the real win of the evening was off the field in McCovey Cove, where a few creative fans found a new way to watch the game: inflatable swan.

The swan shenanigans began in the grassy area behind Oracle Park, where four fans inflated the mega-sized pool float. In a video posted on Twitter by NBC Sports, the men can be seen hauling the big, blow-up bird toward the water, carrying it over the ragged rocks that line the cove. Announcers Kruk and Kuip provided play-by-play of the event to the tune of Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake,” quipping, “If that deflates, I’ll be deflated.”

Once the bird, which some have dubbed Rally Swan, landed in the water, the fans proceeded to stuff the fowl with precious cargo: a red cooler, a case of beer, and what looks like a bottle of Hennessy.

Despite being well-stocked, the fans were only apparently able to sail the waters for a short while.

Reports are conflicting as to the reason behind the curtailed ride. Although kayaks, canoes, and rafts are allowed in McCovey Cove and fans do lounge in the waters — sometimes in the hopes of catching a home run — one user on Twitter reported that the fans were told to get out of the cove by San Francisco police on a boat. Others say that a leak ended the swan’s fateful voyage.

Whether stopped by law enforcement or the laws of gravity, one thing is certain: The swan float was a hilarious hit among fans.

“I think Tchaikovsky would approve,” wrote a fan.
