It’s nice everyone can laugh about it now … maybe.
Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry, at the very least, feel somewhat comfortable with the whole moving-on process. Although they’re no longer teammates on the Golden State Warriors, they both got a chuckle out of a meme posted to the Warriors Talk Instagram account Monday.
The image shows Durant during his 2018 tour of the soon-to-be-opened Chase Center in San Francisco. He’s pointing to the ceiling. It’s cheekily captioned: “I’m finna be about 3,000 miles that way when this gets built.”
It’s a reference, of course, to Durant signing with the Brooklyn Nets in the offseason, putting him across the country from the new home of the Warriors.
Durant himself commented on the photo: “I’m cryin. That’s f— up” with two crying-laughing emojis.
The photo also tickled Curry, who liked the meme and commented, “Yo! Who come up with this stuff?”
If Durant does play at the Chase Center soon, it would be something of a surprise; the Nets are scheduled to play in San Francisco on March 12, 2020. That would be on the shorter end of the timeline for Durant’s recovery from an Achilles rupture suffered in the NBA Finals.
The Chase Center officially opens to the public on Sept. 6 with a concert: Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony. The first Warriors game will be held on Oct. 5, a preseason tilt with the Los Angeles Lakers.
