Warriors fans learned two things Monday: Klay Thompson has no plans to break up the Splash Brothers and he watches censored major motion pictures on cable.
In an Instagram post the injured All-Star used a (heavily bleeped for TV) clip from “The Wolf of Wall Street” to let Warriors fans know he is staying with the team.
“I’m not leaving. I’m not leaving. I’m not f***ing leaving, the show goes on,” shouts Leonado DiCaprio in the clip from the 2013 film based on the life of scuzzy businessman Jordan Belfort. “They’re going to need a f***ing wrecking ball to take me out of here.”
Thompson, who tore his ACL in the final game of the postseason, was eligible to become a free agent but had been rumored as likely to return to Golden State.
Thompson confirmed those rumors Monday, writing, “Mood (there was never a doubt) #warrior4life.”
Minutes later, Stephen Curry’s official Instagram account responded with, “Let’s go bro! Congrats.”
The move means that the most prolific three point shooting backcourt in NBA history will remain intact next season when the Warriors move into the new Chase Center arena in Mission Bay.
Thompson is expected to miss much of the season as he recovers from the torn ligament.
