Off-duty Oakland police officer stabbed at Jefferson and Sixth streets

An off-duty Oakland police officer was stabbed Thursday afternoon, Oakland police said.

The officer had wrapped up their shift and was walking to their vehicle at about 5:37 p.m., when they were approached by someone who then apparently stabbed the officer, according to a social media post from the Oakland Police Department.

It’s not clear what led to the stabbing, but the suspect was arrested at the scene.

The officer is at the hospital and in stable condition, authorities reported.

The area of Jefferson and Sixth streets appear to be closed due to an apparent investigation.
